Note for app reviewers and users: BettaDev builds apps both for its own catalogue and for clients. Where an app is published under a client's own developer account, that client is the data controller and their own privacy policy applies. This policy covers bettadev.com and the apps listed in the appendix.
1. Who we are
BettaDev (“BettaDev”, “we”, “us”) is an independent mobile and web application studio operated as a sole proprietorship by Emir Kaan Çatı, based in İstanbul, Türkiye. BettaDev is a trading name, not a separate legal entity; the individual named above is personally responsible for the processing described here.
For the purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK No. 6698), BettaDev is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
- General contact: hello@bettadev.com
- Privacy and data requests: privacy@bettadev.com
- App support: support@bettadev.com
2. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to:
- the website at
bettadev.comand its subdomains; - the mobile applications published by BettaDev on the Apple App Store and Google Play that link to this policy;
- the web applications operated by BettaDev that link to this policy;
- enquiries, contracts and support conversations with BettaDev.
It does not apply to third-party websites, services or apps that we link to, nor to applications published under a client's own developer account, which are governed by that client's privacy policy.
3. Summary
We collect as little as possible and we never sell personal data. The pages that matter for a decision — home, contact, support, this policy, the terms — set no cookies at all. Our project pages and written notes carry advertising, and say so. Our apps collect only what is needed to make the app work; where an app collects nothing at all, the appendix says so explicitly.
| Question | Short answer |
|---|---|
| Do you sell my data? | No. Never, to anyone, for any purpose. |
| Do you show third-party ads? | On this site, only on project pages and notes — never on the home, contact, support or legal pages. In our apps, some free ones do — see section 5.3. Paid and client apps do not. |
| Do you track me across other apps and sites? | Only if you agree to it. Apps with ads ask first, and work exactly the same if you say no. |
| Do you need an account? | Only in apps where an account is a core feature. It is always stated in the appendix. |
| Can I get my data deleted? | Yes — see section 14. Free, and within 30 days. |
4. Data we collect from this website
4.1 Information you give us
When you contact us through the enquiry form or by email, we receive the information you choose to send: your name, email address, company name, budget range and the description of your project. We use it only to answer you and, if we work together, to run the project.
4.2 Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider processes standard server and security logs when a page is requested. These may include your IP address, user agent, requested URL, referring page and timestamp. They are used to deliver the site, prevent abuse and diagnose faults, and are retained for a short period by the provider.
4.3 Analytics
BettaDev uses privacy-friendly, cookie-less analytics that record aggregate page views, referrers and country only. No cookies are set, no cross-site profile is built, and individual visitors are not identified. If you have configured a “Do Not Track” or global privacy signal in your browser, we honour it.
4.4 Advertising on this website
Parts of this site are supported by advertising. Ads appear
only on the written notes under /notes/, on this
domain and on the project subdomains of bettadev.com. They are
never shown on the home page, the project pages under /projects/,
the engagement page, the contact page, the support page, or on this policy
and the terms.
Where ads are shown they are served by Google AdSense (Google Ireland Limited). Google is an independent controller for that processing, not a processor acting on our instructions — it decides for itself how the advertising data it receives is used, and its own privacy policy governs it.
To select and measure those ads, Google may:
- store and read cookies or similar identifiers in your browser;
- receive your IP address, user agent, and the page the ad appeared on;
- use that information — where you have consented — to show you ads based on your interests and previous visits to this and other sites.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you are shown a consent form before any of that happens, through a Google-certified consent management platform. Choosing to decline is a real option and costs you nothing: you will still see the page and you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised ones chosen without building a profile of you. You can reopen that form and change your answer at any time from the link in it.
What advertising does not get: we do not send Google your name, your email address, the contents of a brief you submitted, or anything else you have typed into this site. We do not sell personal data, and we do not allow advertising on any page that is there for legal or support reasons.
You can review and change Google's ad settings for your own account at myadcenter.google.com, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Advertising in our apps is a separate arrangement through Google AdMob and is described in section 5.3.
5. Data we collect in our apps
The exact data collected varies per app and is listed in the appendix and in the app's store listing (Apple “App Privacy” label and Google Play “Data safety” section). Across our apps, the categories are:
| Category | Examples | Why | Optional? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account data | Email address, display name, authentication identifier | Create and secure your account, sync your data between devices | Only in apps with accounts |
| Content you create | Notes, entries, uploads, settings and preferences | Provide the core function of the app and back it up | No — this is the app's purpose |
| Purchase data | Subscription status, receipt validation token | Unlock paid features and restore purchases | Only if you buy something |
| Diagnostics | Crash reports, error logs, device model, OS version, app version | Find and fix crashes and bugs | Yes — can be declined or turned off in settings |
| Usage data | Aggregate feature usage and screen views | Understand which features are worth improving | Yes — can be declined or turned off in settings |
| Device permissions | Camera, photos, location, notifications, microphone | Only when a feature you actively use requires it | Yes — you grant them, and can revoke them in system settings |
We never collect your contacts, your precise background location, your browsing history in other apps, or your device advertising identifier, unless an app's appendix entry explicitly says so and asks for your permission first — see section 5.3 for how advertising works in our free apps.
5.1 Payments
Purchases and subscriptions in our mobile apps are handled entirely by Apple and Google through their in-app purchase systems. BettaDev never sees or stores your card number, bank details or billing address. We receive only an anonymous purchase receipt confirming that a valid subscription exists.
5.2 Permissions
Apps request device permissions only at the point a feature needs them, with an explanation of why. Declining a permission never blocks the rest of the app — only the feature that requires it. You can review or revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings or Android Settings.
5.3 Advertising
Some BettaDev apps are free and carry advertising. Where an app does, its appendix entry says so explicitly. Those apps use Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited) to select and deliver the ads.
To do that, AdMob accesses your device advertising identifier and collects advertising data — which ads were requested, shown and interacted with, along with coarse device and network information. Google acts as an independent controller for this data and uses it for delivery, measurement and fraud prevention, and — only where you have consented — to personalise the ads you see. Google's own account of this is at business.safety.google/privacy, and the full list of advertising partners is shown inside the consent form itself.
In the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, nothing happens before you are asked. On first launch the app shows Google's certified consent form (UMP), where you can accept, refuse, or decide purpose by purpose. Refusing does not limit the app: you simply see non-personalised ads, chosen on context rather than on anything about you. You can change your answer at any time from the privacy control in the app's own settings.
On iOS you will also see Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Declining it prevents the advertising identifier being used to track you across other companies' apps and sites, and again costs you nothing in the app.
Ad content is capped at the “General audiences” rating in every app that shows ads, and advertising is never used in an app directed at children.
What advertising does not touch: nothing you do inside the app is sent to us or to Google as content. In Tagot, for example, your progress, your stars and your tan balance never leave your device.
6. Why we use your data
- To provide the service — run the app or site, sync your content, keep you signed in.
- To support you — answer emails, investigate a bug you reported.
- To keep things working — diagnose crashes, monitor uptime, prevent abuse and fraud.
- To improve — understand in aggregate which features are used, so effort goes to the right place.
- To meet legal obligations — accounting records, tax rules, and responding to lawful requests.
We do not sell your data, profile you for automated decisions with legal effects, or resell anything. In our free, ad-supported apps, advertising is handled by Google AdMob as described in section 5.3 — and only with your consent where consent is required.
7. Legal bases for processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)
| Processing | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Providing the app or website you asked for; running an account | Performance of a contract — Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Answering your enquiry; pre-contract discussions | Steps prior to a contract — Art. 6(1)(b), and legitimate interests — Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Security logs, abuse prevention, service integrity | Legitimate interests — Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Optional analytics and crash reporting | Consent — Art. 6(1)(a), withdrawable at any time |
| Personalised advertising; storing or accessing information on your device for advertising | Consent — Art. 6(1)(a), withdrawable at any time |
| Non-personalised advertising, ad measurement and fraud prevention | Legitimate interests — Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Keeping invoices and accounting records | Legal obligation — Art. 6(1)(c) |
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time in the app's privacy settings or by emailing us. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before the withdrawal.
9. International data transfers
Some of our providers operate outside your country, including in the United States. Where personal data of individuals in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Türkiye is transferred abroad, we rely on appropriate safeguards — most commonly the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, an adequacy decision, or your explicit consent where required under KVKK Art. 9. You can request a copy of the safeguards in place by emailing privacy@bettadev.com.
10. How long we keep data
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account and app content | While your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of a deletion request. |
| Enquiries that do not become projects | Up to 12 months, then deleted. |
| Crash and diagnostic logs | Up to 90 days. |
| Aggregate, non-identifying analytics | Indefinitely — it is no longer personal data. |
| Invoices and accounting records | As required by tax law in our country of registration (typically 5–10 years). |
| Backups | Rolling backups are overwritten within 90 days of a deletion. |
11. Security
We take the measures a studio of this size can genuinely commit to:
- All traffic to our sites, apps and APIs is encrypted with TLS.
- Data at rest is encrypted by our hosting and database providers.
- Access to production systems is limited to the studio owner and protected by multi-factor authentication.
- Passwords, where an app has them, are stored only as salted hashes — never in readable form.
- Third-party dependencies are monitored and updated for known vulnerabilities.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data and is likely to result in a risk to your rights, we will notify the competent supervisory authority within 72 hours and inform you directly without undue delay.
12. Children
Our apps and this website are not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
An age rating of 4+ means an app contains nothing objectionable — it does not mean the app is directed at children. Apps that are directed at children are listed in Apple's Kids Category or Google Play's Families programme; those carry no advertising, no analytics profiling and no third-party data sharing. Tagot is rated 4+ and is not in either programme.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us personal data, email privacy@bettadev.com and we will delete it promptly.
13. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights:
- Access — get a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — have inaccurate data corrected.
- Erasure — have your data deleted (see section 14).
- Restriction — ask us to pause processing while a dispute is resolved.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting past processing.
- Complain — to your local data protection authority. In the EEA that is your national DPA; in the UK the ICO; in Türkiye the KVKK Board (Kişisel Verileri Koruma Kurumu).
13.1 California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing”. BettaDev does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CPRA, and has not done so in the preceding 12 months. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
13.2 How to exercise a right
Email privacy@bettadev.com from the address associated with your account, stating what you want. We respond within 30 days and do not charge a fee for reasonable requests. We may ask for information to verify your identity — only what is necessary to be sure we are not handing your data to someone else.
14. Deleting your account and data
This section is the account and data deletion page referenced in our Google Play
Data safety declarations. It is permanently available at
https://bettadev.com/privacy#data-deletion.
14.1 Delete from inside the app
In every BettaDev app that has user accounts, you can delete your account yourself: open Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm. This removes your account and all associated content.
14.2 Delete by email
If you cannot access the app, email privacy@bettadev.com from your registered address with the subject “Delete my data” and tell us:
- which app or service you used;
- the email address or username on the account.
14.3 What happens next
| Data | What happens | When |
|---|---|---|
| Account record, profile, credentials | Permanently deleted | Immediately, or within 30 days of an email request |
| Content you created | Permanently deleted | Immediately, or within 30 days of an email request |
| Encrypted backups | Overwritten on the normal backup rotation | Within 90 days |
| Crash and diagnostic logs | Expire automatically | Within 90 days |
| Invoices and payment records | Retained — required by tax law | Statutory period |
| Aggregate analytics | Retained — contains no identifying data | — |
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Note that cancelling a subscription is separate: manage it in your Apple or Google account, since only they can end the billing relationship.
15. Cookies and similar technologies
Most of bettadev.com sets no cookies at all. The home page, the contact page, the support page, this policy and the terms use only strictly necessary storage — for example remembering a preference you set — which cannot be used to identify you across other sites. Our analytics are cookie-less.
The exception is the content pages — /projects/
and /notes/, and the project subdomains. Those carry advertising,
and Google AdSense may set cookies or read similar identifiers there in order
to select and measure ads. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked
first, through a Google-certified consent form, and declining leaves you with
non-personalised ads rather than no page. The full description is in
section 4.4.
Our apps use local device storage to keep your settings and cached content on the device. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes that local storage.
16. Data in client projects
When BettaDev builds software for a client, that client is the data controller for their end-users' personal data, and BettaDev acts as a data processor on their behalf under a written agreement (a DPA where GDPR applies). In that role we:
- process personal data only on the client's documented instructions;
- use production data only where strictly necessary, and prefer anonymised or synthetic test data;
- keep access credentials confidential and return or destroy them at the end of the engagement;
- notify the client without undue delay if we become aware of a breach affecting their data.
End-users of client apps should refer to that client's own privacy policy.
17. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our services or the law change. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version. For material changes — a new category of data, a new purpose, or a new processor — we will give notice in the app or by email before the change takes effect, and where the law requires it, ask for your consent again.
18. Contact us
Questions, requests or complaints about privacy:
- Email: privacy@bettadev.com
- Support: support@bettadev.com
- Postal: Emir Kaan Çatı (BettaDev), İstanbul, Türkiye — write to privacy@bettadev.com first and we will supply a full postal address where one is needed for a formal request.
- Response time: within 30 days, usually much sooner
If you are unhappy with our response, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Appendix — data collected per app
This appendix mirrors the Apple App Privacy label and the Google Play Data safety form for each app. It is updated whenever an app changes what it collects.
| App | Platform | Account required | Data collected | Shared with third parties |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tagot | iOS | No | Game progress, star ratings, tan balance and settings — stored on your device only and never sent to us. Advertising: device advertising identifier and advertising interaction data, collected by Google AdMob (see section 5.3). | Yes — Google AdMob, for advertising only |
